The Gabardine at Horseferry register

The pack takes its setting from a 1930s stone building on a Westminster street near the river: pale Portland stone outside, a white marble atrium within. The cloth is the one a founder invented in 1879, tightly woven gabardine that sheds water, cut as the long trench with its storm flap and belt. Here it runs honey, worn over a honey knit and sand trousers, so that stone, twill, knit and drill all sit within one family of warm pale gold.

Three settings carry the nine photographs. Before soft Portland stone, the turned collar and storm flap frame the face in even grey London daylight. In the marble atrium, one hand finds the belt buckle and the dense twill catches the light. On the stone step, at half-length, the doorway and the Westminster street fall away behind a man in honey gabardine.
