The Byron noir register
Byron noir draws on Byron's black as a Saint Laurent-style cut would render it: a black velvet coat over a black silk shirt open at the throat, black trousers to a black boot, a room of black lacquer and black water at Venice. The value is black as a full palette — five blacks by sheen, the throat and face the whole picture.
