The New Town Sandstone register
The setting is Edinburgh's New Town, the Georgian grid built in the Enlightenment. The flat stands on a crescent of Craigleith sandstone, a grey-gold stone that takes the low November light. The consulting room has grey-painted panelling, an astragal window of twelve panes onto the crescent's private garden, and bare limes beyond.
