This pack reads a frosty morning on a common in camaïeu — tone on tone: An olive waxed jacket over an olive knit, brown boots, a short beard — the jacket pitched to sit in the same olive as the frosted grass and the low winter mist.

Three takes carry the pack: against a hedgerow in frost, low morning sun; on the path with the misty common behind him, a dog's lead held loose in hand; and half-length at a gate, the olive fields receding into mist — three real angles on the one world, not one look shot three times.

Photographically the separation between garment and ground comes from texture, specular highlight and the direction of light, never from a second colour — the face stays the only other hue in frame throughout.
