The Island of Memory register

Gorée is a small island off Dakar that holds the memory of the Atlantic trade: colonial houses of ochre and rose lime wash with bougainvillea, sandy lanes, a fort of basalt, and a warm sea light. The pack composes the historian to its houses and its weight, in an ochre linen suit over a rose silk blouse.

She stands before a wall of ochre lime wash, soft behind her, with warm light from one side and a catchlight in each eye.
