The ivory and gold bee register

The perfume house's flagship on the Champs-Élysées is a Second Empire interior of pale marble, gilt and mirrors, with a staircase lined with the house's bottles. In 1853 it stamped a bottle with gilded bees for an empress. This pack takes the bee as its single gold, on an ivory ground held to its values from pale marble to silk.

She wears an ivory silk gown with a draped neckline, a small gold bee brooch at the shoulder and a thin gold band at the wrist. Warm gilded light from above and one side is open and golden, with a catchlight in each eye.
