The Henri III and His Mignons register
This pack draws on the last Valois court of the 1580s — the most fashionable and the most mocked court in French history. A white satin doublet with a peascod belly and tight paned sleeves, a millstone ruff of starched lawn standing out flat as a plate, a tall black velvet toque with a jewelled silver aigrette, a pearl drop in one ear, trunk-hose and silk stockings, and a small cape thrown back off one shoulder.
