A Julien Sorel Costume Photoshoot
Nine photos of you in one setting
How your model is created from your photos
Every pack on Narcis, made with your face
Nine photographs of you in one setting: one pack of the Narcis catalogue.
Nine photographs of you, styled after the Julien Sorel register — a black cassock in a stone seminary cloister, a scarlet hussar tunic in a mirrored Paris salon, and a black tailcoat at a moonlit windowsill, in portrait format. The nine vary in crop, expression and light, so there are real choices, not nine identical files.

The Julien Sorel register
Icônes' literary strand takes Julien Sorel from Stendhal's France of 1830 — the carpenter's son with Napoleon under his mattress, the seminary's black cassock, the Hôtel de La Mole's library and a ladder to a window at night. The wardrobe is documented Restoration dress: a black wool soutane with a white collar band, a scarlet hussar-style tunic with gold braid and a sabre, a black tailcoat and white cravat for Paris.
Photographically the register runs cold stone-vaulted light in a cloister into warm mirrored gold in a salon into blue moonlight on a windowsill — black, scarlet, and library gold throughout, ambition lit two ways on one face. Three genuine settings from the novel, not one coat moved between rooms.
The output is photoreal — an actual-looking photograph of you in period dress, not a painting or a costume-drama still. It's a portrait; it isn't a depiction of Julien Sorel himself, and it doesn't claim to be.
How to photograph yourself for a Julien Sorel costume photoshoot
Better source photos make better portraits.
- Even, soft lightStand near a window with indirect daylight on your face. The pack builds its own cloister or salon light on top — a flat, well-lit selfie gives it the clearest face to work from.
- Front or three-quarter angleCamera at eye level, facing it or turned slightly to three-quarter. No selfie-stick uplook, no shot from below.
- Face fully clearHair off the face, no hats, sunglasses, or filters in the source photo. A clear, front-facing photo is the best input for an AI portrait.
- Eyes burning under composureThe Julien Sorel look favors a controlled face with eyes that give away ambition rather than a broad grin — a composed expression in your source photo blends more naturally into the Restoration frames.
- Plain background is fineDon't worry about your own backdrop — the pack's three settings replace it entirely. A plain wall behind you just helps the model focus on your face.
Frequently asked questions
- Will it actually look like a real photograph?
- Yes. The output is photoreal — a period-accurate photograph, not a painting or an illustration — built from documented detail: the black soutane, the scarlet hussar tunic, the Paris tailcoat, and the three settings that carried them.
- Is this a real photo of Julien Sorel, or of me?
- It's a portrait of you. The pack borrows Julien's documented wardrobe and settings as a costume and visual reference; every frame is a portrait of you and doesn't depict a real or fictional person other than you.
- Can women use this pack?
- The styling and sample set are built for men — the cassock and hussar tunic among them — so it reads masculine.
- Can I use this as a profile picture or on a dating app?
- Yes — it's a striking, well-composed portrait that reads well on either. Used honestly, as a stylised AI photoshoot rather than a claim of a real period shoot, it works well on any profile.
- Can I use it for a themed party invitation or gift?
- Personal use like this is fine — an invitation, a themed photoshoot, a keepsake print. It isn't licensed for commercial resale.
- Do I need an actual cassock or a sabre for this to work?
- You don't need any of it in real life; that's what the photoshoot supplies.
- Will the photos look like me?
- Every photo looks like you, well photographed. If one is nearly right, say what to change, in your own words.
- Do I have to write a prompt?
- No. There is nothing to write: you pick a pack, and it is ready in seconds.
- How many photos of myself do I add?
- Between six and twenty, from different days and in different light, with your face clear. We check each one when you add it.
- What happens to the photos I add?
- They are used only to create your model, on our own servers in the European Union. They are not shared and not sold.

About narcis
Most AI photo tools put every pose, job, era, and style in one giant catalog. The photos all look like every other AI photo on the internet — a glaze over a stock face. Narcis goes the other way. One job: photos of you that look like photographs. You add at least 6 photos of yourself, and we create your AI model from them. Your photos are ready in a few hours, and we email you when they are. Then this pack and every other pack on Narcis can be made with your face. Each pack is curated against real references — paintings, photographers, places — and tested on real faces before it goes live. Built and run by one small team, on our own servers.
