The Canopy register

South of Athens, on the shore of the bay, a national library and an opera house share one vast flat canopy that floats on thin columns above a hill of Mediterranean garden. A long canal of water runs below it, white marble lines the terraces and the blue of the Saronic gulf closes the view. The pack puts the cultural director under that roof, in a white linen dress with a cream wrap.

Every value of white is at work: blinding marble, the canopy's soft underside, pale shadow on the stone.
