The Ruined Sultanate register

On an island a medieval sultanate once traded gold. Its great mosque stands in ruin with coral-stone domes, its palace sits on a cliff, baobabs grow through the walls, and a turquoise channel lies beyond. The pack puts the archaeologist among the ruins, in a cream linen suit over a grey-green shirt, grey-cream in every value from pale weathered stone to dark lichen.

He stands before a wall of weathered coral stone in humid light softened from one side, rests a hand on the pitted surface of an arch with the trunk of a baobab soft behind, and appears at half-length on the ruin's grass with the palace walls on the cliff behind him and the domes and the channel beyond.
