The Majo register
The Majo pack draws on Goya's Madrid, 1780 to 1800 — the majos of Lavapiés in a short bolero jacket of green velvet with silver buttons, a wide red sash, a black silk hairnet with a tassel, a cape thrown over one shoulder. The aristocracy copied them and Goya painted both; the value is the swagger exact.
Photographically the register runs blazing white noon against a lime-washed wall, warm gold at a riverside fair, and lantern gold in a night alley — three real Madrid scenes, not one look repeated. The palette holds green velvet, the red sash, white linen and lime-white wall throughout.
