The Hospital General register

A historic hospital in Mexico City: white-painted pavilions from the 1900s, a long arcade of white columns, white volcanic-stone paths and the jacarandas bare in winter. The pack holds the uniform, the pavilion and the path to white values, and brings in one hue, an indigo rebozo worn once as a woven shawl over one shoulder. The face is the only other colour.

The frames are a portrait before the white pavilion wall with the arcade's light beside her and the white uniform with the blue rebozo, a half-length in the arcade with one hand on a white column and the arches receding, and a half-length on the stone path between pavilions with the bare jacarandas behind, the rebozo the figure's one hue. The light is the plateau's clear, bright noon, with a catchlight in each eye.
