The Richmond shipyard register

The old Kaiser shipyards at Richmond on San Francisco Bay are where women welded Liberty ships during the war, and where a crane and a memorial now stand for them by the water. The pack dresses the welder in the yard's pair, work denim blue and a red polka-dot bandana at matched saturation, denim the larger share: the Rosie the Riveter style, worn in its own yard.

She stands at the water's edge with the bay soft and bright behind her; she stands with a welding mask pushed up on her head, one arm on a steel rail and a rolled sleeve showing her forearm; and she stands on the concrete before the tall old crane, its long jib against the sky over the empty slipways. Denim and red only, no third hue.

What comes out is photographic: nine photographs of you, three in each of three settings, set in the look of the Richmond yard. The place and the wardrobe are borrowed as a setting; the photographs are portraits of you, not pictures taken on location.

How to photograph yourself for a welder portrait

Better source photos make better portraits. An ordinary phone selfie is enough, and a few habits sharpen the likeness.

  1. Even, soft lightStand near a window with daylight on your face. Avoid overhead bulbs and phone flash, which flatten a face.
  2. Front or three-quarter angleCamera at eye level, facing it or turned slightly. No shot from below, no stretched arm.
  3. Face fully clearHair off the face, no sunglasses and no filters. A clear, front-facing phone selfie is the best starting point.
  4. A direct, capable lookA level, steady expression in your source photo suits a woman who does skilled work for a living.
  5. A plain background is fineDo not worry about your own backdrop. The pack replaces it entirely.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real photo taken in the Richmond yard?
No. It is a portrait of you set in the look of the Richmond shipyards on San Francisco Bay. It is not a picture taken there.
Will it look like a real photograph?
Yes. Every photo is photoreal: a real-looking photograph of you in the look of the Richmond shipyards on San Francisco Bay, not a painting or a cartoon.
Why denim and red?
Work denim and a red polka-dot bandana are the signs of the women who built the ships. Held at matched saturation with denim in the larger share, they carry the yard without a caption.
Is it right for a trades or engineering profile?
Yes. It suits welders, fabricators, engineers and anyone in the skilled trades, for a company page, an apprenticeship profile or a conference bio.
What are the three settings?
At the water's edge in bright bay light, with a welding mask pushed up on her head beside a steel rail, and before the tall old crane over the empty slipways.
Is this pack for women?
The wardrobe and styling are cut for women, so the pack reads that way. Other packs on Narcis suit other looks.
Will the photos look like me?
Every photo looks like you, well photographed. If one is nearly right, say what to change, in your own words.
Do I have to write a prompt?
No. There is nothing to write: you pick a pack, and it is ready in seconds.
How many photos of myself do I add?
Between six and twenty, from different days and in different light, with your face clear. We check each one when you add it.
What happens to the photos I add?
They are used only to create your model, on our own servers in the European Union. They are not shared and not sold.

  • An engineer headshot women can use on a company website
  • A bio for a trades conference or a career day
  • A LinkedIn photo with a clear sense of skill and place

About narcis

Most AI photo tools put every pose, job, era, and style in one giant catalog. The photos all look like every other AI photo on the internet — a glaze over a stock face. Narcis goes the other way. One job: photos of you that look like photographs. You add at least 6 photos of yourself, and we create your AI model from them. Your photos are ready in a few hours, and we email you when they are. Then this pack and every other pack on Narcis can be made with your face. Each pack is curated against real references — paintings, photographers, places — and tested on real faces before it goes live. Built and run by one small team, on our own servers.

All images are AI-generated. By using this service, you confirm you are 18+, that any face photo you upload is your own or used with explicit consent. Full Terms
