This pack draws on Victorian spiritualism as theatre — a Mayfair parlour in 1890, the round table under a fringed lamp, the medium in black silk, the trumpet and the spirit cabinet. The value is occult fashion composed like a Sargent portrait.

Photographically the register is one lamp's fringed circle against total dark — everything outside it black, the ectoplasm the one white note. The palette runs black silk, jet, red velvet, mahogany, lamp gold, ectoplasm white.
