The White Desert register

In this desert the wind has been carving chalk for millennia into mushrooms and sphinxes, and the sand between them is white. The sky is deep blue and the light is hard: blinding at noon, pink at dusk. The pack puts the geologist among the formations, in a white linen suit over a pale grey shirt, white in every value from the glare to the shadow.
