The Grand Prismatic register

Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone is a deep blue pool ringed with colour, painted by heat-loving microbes: teal, then yellow, then orange and rust at the edge. The pack takes the rings as its palette and has the microbiologist wear two of them, a rust field jacket over a mustard knit.
