Photographically the register runs symmetric torchlit black in the hall of judgment, cold moonlight against one warm torch in the necropolis, and oil-lamp orange cut by a shaft of blue dawn in the embalmers' chapel. The palette holds black, gold, white and torch orange; a black jackal mask lacquered with gold ears and eyes, a broad gold collar on a bare chest, a white pleated kilt, gold armlets, and a gold was-sceptre carry the silhouette — the ears are the shape, black the palette, gold the edge.
