The The Flight Director register

Gene Kranz made the white vest the flight director's signature, a waistcoat his wife sewed for each mission, and the room it was worn in has become the picture of engineering under pressure. This pack photographs that room as it stands today: tiered consoles in grey-green, a front wall of trajectory screens, and the quiet of a place that has already done the hard part.

Three photographs carry it. At the flight director's own console, headset on with one earpiece pushed back and amber indicators glowing low in the frame. Standing at the back of the room with arms folded over the vest, the consoles stepping down toward the dark screens. And at half-length at the rail of the top row, the whole stepped room below you.

The palette is the room's own: grey-green, black and dark glass, with amber as the single colour and the vest as the brightest thing in the frame. It is a portrait of you in the room, not of any person who worked in it, and it shows the calm of the director, never the crisis.

How to take source photos for the The Flight Director pack

Better source photos make better portraits. A few things sharpen the likeness before the wardrobe and the setting go on top.

  1. Even, soft lightStand near a window with indirect daylight on your face. Avoid overhead bulbs and phone flash; both flatten the face.
  2. Front or three-quarter angleCamera at eye level, facing it or turned slightly. No shot from below, no wide-angle close-up.
  3. Face fully clearHair off the face, no hats or sunglasses. A clear, front-facing photo gives the most of you to work with.
  4. A level, unhurried expressionThe flight director's portrait is calm, not cheerful. A steady look in your source photos carries over better than a broad smile.
  5. Plain background is fineDo not worry about your own backdrop. The pack's three settings replace it entirely.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a portrait of Gene Kranz?
No. Kranz is the room's reference: the white vest is his signature. The photographs show you, in your own face, at the flight director's console.
Does it look like a real control room?
The set is built from the real room's grammar: stepped rows of grey-green consoles, a dark front wall of trajectory lines, amber indicators and the cool light of the screens from below.
Is it suitable for a professional engineer headshot?
Yes. The wardrobe is a white vest, a short-sleeved white shirt and a narrow black tie, and the mood is composed and technical, which suits an engineering profile.
Will the photos look like me?
Every photo looks like you, well photographed. If one is nearly right, say what to change, in your own words.
Do I have to write a prompt?
No. There is nothing to write: you pick a pack, and it is ready in seconds.
How many photos of myself do I add?
Between six and twenty, from different days and in different light, with your face clear. We check each one when you add it.
What happens to the photos I add?
They are used only to create your model, on our own servers in the European Union. They are not shared and not sold.

When the The Flight Director pack fits

  • An engineer headshot for a LinkedIn profile that reads as aerospace rather than stock office
  • A speaker bio for a space, defence or systems-engineering conference
  • A portfolio or personal site for a flight software or operations engineer
  • A mission control photo for a team page, a dissertation acknowledgement or a retirement card
  • A gift for the person who watched every launch and still knows the names of the consoles

About narcis

Most AI photo tools put every pose, job, era, and style in one giant catalog. The photos all look like every other AI photo on the internet — a glaze over a stock face. Narcis goes the other way. One job: photos of you that look like photographs. You add at least 6 photos of yourself, and we create your AI model from them. Your photos are ready in a few hours, and we email you when they are. Then this pack and every other pack on Narcis can be made with your face. Each pack is curated against real references — paintings, photographers, places — and tested on real faces before it goes live. Built and run by one small team, on our own servers.

All images are AI-generated. By using this service, you confirm you are 18+, that any face photo you upload is your own or used with explicit consent. Full Terms
