The Lin Daiyu register
This pack draws on Cao Xueqin's Dream of the Red Chamber and its Grand View Garden — the Bamboo Lodge, the flower-burial with a hoe and a silk bag of petals, the poetry club, Daiyu as the most beautiful and most fragile of the novel's heroines. The value is one of Chinese literature's most-read novels at its documented garden scenes.
Photographically the register is soft spring light for the flower burial, cool green-white for the Bamboo Lodge, warm lantern light for the poetry club; the palette runs willow green, white, peach pink, jade, bamboo shadow.
