The Green Stone City register

A city in the southern mountains is built of pale green volcanic stone, its churches and arcades cut from the green cantera. Above it, on a flattened mountain, lie the plazas and pyramids of an ancient capital in grey-green stone, with the valley below and a clear, dry light over both. The pack puts the archaeologist between his two cities.
