The first Monday of May, 2023: the museum's great stone steps on Fifth Avenue, pale limestone, a carpet laid down to the stone, and the dusk coming on. The night is remembered for one man in one bold colour, a red wool overcoat to the knee over a red shirt and red tailored shorts above the knee, with black shoes. This pack is a Pedro Pascal style photoshoot built on that picture: the whole look kept inside a single red, from the shirt's cherry to the overcoat's deep carmine.

You stand before the pale limestone with the overcoat's collar turned and the shirt open at the neck, sit on a step with a forearm on your knee and the hem of the shorts above the red sock, and stand at full length on the stair with the museum's columned front rising behind you. The light is soft dusk off the stone, open and even. Wool, cotton and limestone are what keep one red from going flat.
