The Restoration Rake Photoshoot, Charles II's London

Nine photos of you in one setting

How your model is created from your photos

Every pack on Narcis, made with your face

Nine photographs of you in one setting: one pack of the Narcis catalogue.

Nine photographs of you, styled after Charles II's Restoration court — a brocade coat over lace with a full periwig in a Whitehall gallery, a King's Theatre box with candlelight and sack, a coffee-house table with a clay pipe, in portrait format. The nine vary in crop, expression and light, so there are real choices, not nine identical files.

The Restoration Rake register

This pack draws on Charles II's court of the 1660s — the periwig, the lace cravat, the petticoat breeches, the Whitehall gallery, the theatre pit, and Pepys's own diary-worthy London. It's one of Etiquette's royal court photoshoot series, the courts of Europe from 1450 to 1935, and this is its late-seventeenth-century chapter: warm, satin, a little dishevelled Restoration light.

Photographically the register is a long brocade or velvet coat open over a lace-fronted shirt, a lace cravat, petticoat breeches with ribbon loops, a full dark periwig, a wide plumed hat, silk stockings, a cane. The palette is brown, gold, lace white, and tavern amber — a tudor dress register built for a court that treated wit as a costume.

Three scenes carry the pack: a Whitehall gallery lined with periwigged courtiers and a spaniel underfoot, a King's Theatre box with a glass of sack and the pit's candles below, and a coffee-house table with a newssheet and a clay pipe. Each is a real facet of a court that never took itself too seriously, not one coat in three rooms.

The output is photoreal — a real-looking photograph of you in that world, not an oil portrait despite the Restoration-era references. It's a costume portrait; it isn't a depiction of any historical figure, and it doesn't claim to be.

How to photograph yourself for a Restoration Rake photoshoot

Better source photos make better portraits.

  1. Even, soft lightStand near a window with indirect daylight on your face. The pack adds its own warm, candlelit theatre-box light afterward — a flat, well-lit selfie gives it the clearest face to build from.
  2. Front or three-quarter angleCamera at eye level, facing it or turned slightly to three-quarter. No selfie-stick uplook.
  3. Face fully clearHair off the face, no hats or heavy filters in the source photo. A clear, front-facing photo is the best input for an AI portrait.
  4. An insolent, charming expressionThis register favors easy wit over a stiff pose — a wry, half-grinning look blends naturally into the theatre-box and coffee-house frames.
  5. Plain background is fineThe Whitehall gallery, the theatre box, and the coffee house replace your backdrop entirely — a plain wall behind you just helps the model focus on your face.

Frequently asked questions

Will it actually look like a real photo, and like a genuine royal court?
Yes on both. The output is photoreal — a real-looking photograph, not a painting — and the brocade coat, the full periwig, and the King's Theatre box are built to read as a genuine tudor dress Restoration court, not a generic pirate-costume filter.
Is this a real photo of King Charles II, or of me?
It's a portrait of you. The pack borrows the Restoration court's style — the brocade coat, the periwig, the cravat — as a costume and visual reference; every frame is a portrait of you and doesn't depict any real historical person.
Can women use this pack?
The styling and sample set are built for men — the brocade coat, the periwig, the breeches — so it reads masculine.
Can I use this as a profile picture or on a dating app?
Yes — it's a striking, witty portrait that reads well on either. Used honestly, as a stylised AI photoshoot rather than a claim of royal descent, it works well on any profile.
Can I use it for a themed party or Restoration-comedy evening?
Personal use like this is fine — an invitation, a themed evening, a keepsake print. It isn't licensed for commercial resale.
Do I need an actual periwig or brocade coat for this to work?
You don't need any of it in real life; that's what the photoshoot supplies.
Will the photos look like me?
Every photo looks like you, well photographed. If one is nearly right, say what to change, in your own words.
Do I have to write a prompt?
No. There is nothing to write: you pick a pack, and it is ready in seconds.
How many photos of myself do I add?
Between six and twenty, from different days and in different light, with your face clear. We check each one when you add it.
What happens to the photos I add?
They are used only to create your model, on our own servers in the European Union. They are not shared and not sold.
