This pack draws on Louis XIV in his own Versailles of the 1680s, in Rigaud's warm, gilt-rich light — a long justaucorps of blue velvet embroidered in gold, a waistcoat, a lace cravat and ruffles, breeches and white silk stockings, shoes with red heels and diamond buckles reserved for those he received, a full-bottom dark wig, and the blue Saint-Esprit ribbon.

Three scenes carry it: the Galerie des Glaces with mirrors running away on one side and garden windows on the other, the royal bedchamber at the moment of the lever, and the Apollo fountain at sunset with the canal behind.
