The Velvet Bottle Green register
This pack borrows its register from an old theatre's box in the hour before the house opens: silk velvet, the one cloth that changes colour with the direction of its pile — brushed one way it is black-green, the other it flares to emerald. The wardrobe is bottle-green velvet from gown to wrap dress, against velvet seats and velvet drapes, so the picture reads as one pile and one hue with the face the only skin in the frame.
