Photographically the register runs three genuine takes: standing in the beams on the centre line, in a leather jacket over a white tee, the lamps lighting the tee white while everything past him is lost in black; seated on the car's hood with the beams raking the road ahead, in a denim jacket, the light skimming the road's grit and the jaw; walking into the beams from the dark with dust rising, in a dark overcoat, the lamps lighting the dust into a pale halo while the body's edges dissolve.
