The Stone Forest register

At Zhangjiajie a forest of quartz-sandstone pillars rises hundreds of metres from a wooded gorge. The stone is grey-green with pines on the summits, cloud drifts between the pillars, and glass walkways and stone paths run along the cliff edges. The pack puts the geologist in that forest of stone.
